  • Teens and books
    The American Library Association this week offered a rosy assessment of teens and books. According to an ALA press release (the group is also promoting its Teen Read Week, scheduled this year for Oct. 12-18), “teen books now enjoy unprecedented critical success and popularity.”

  • Jane Eyre
    Classics are receiving more attention now from several of my book groups. Jane Eyre made a real hit in two groups: 100 percent enjoyment of rereading. Jane (or Janet) was a strong woman of her time like Zora Neale Hurston’s character in “Their Eyes Were Watching God.”
