Hiring bias against bloggers? PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 31 October 2005
Bloggers beware! If you are an academic who blogs it may be dangerous to expose this to potential employers. This article by Ivan Tribble (pseudonym of a humanities professor at a small liberal-arts college in the Midwest Unites States) indicates that some employers may view bloggers with skepticism.

Should we be worried about this development? Is it a widespread perception or process or are these just the rants of an isolated voice. It makes a good case for consideration, depending on what you publish. For example, sticking to your core academic field would likely benefit you, but blogging about personal ideas or interests might hinder your chances.
