While we won't go as far as the slightly bizarre CNET lead in a story on the subject (Is a silent, mental revolution taking place right across Asia -- thanks to Internet and blogs?)  survey statistics on blogging just keep pouring in and can make for some interesting reading.

  • 46% of the online population in Asia have a blog compared to 8% of US web surfers
  • 74% of bloggers in Malaysia are under 25; 54% of bloggers in the US are under 30
  • Female make up 64% of Malaysian bloggers compared to 46% in the US and 24% in India
  • More tha 40% of Asian bloggers have less than 10 visitors per week
  • 43% of US Internet users who are members of online communities say that they "feel as strongly" about their virtual communities as their offline ones
  • US Internet users who post photos online have more than doubled in three years to 26%
  • Over one third of UK broadband users are watching less TV since getting connected
